IT'S GAME DAY!
- HISTORY: The Pioneers and the Dustdevils have met 24 times, the first matchup being in 2009. In those 24 matchups, the Pioneers hold the advantage in the win column with 19 wins and only five losses. When TWU has played TAMIU at Dianne Baker Field, they are undefeated (11-0). The Pioneers will look to make history repeat and continue the home winning streak against TAMIU.
- HOME SWEET HOME: In their last game, the Pioneers found ways to score and hold their opponent scoreless for long stretches. They scored just three runs in two games, but their ability to get home in clutch situations gave them a chance to win late in games. With a well-timed single from Leah Deaver and a double from Jalee McDonald, the Pioneers scored runs. They will look to continue their scoring today against the Dustdevils.
- IT'S ALL ABOUT THE DEFENSE: TWU only gave up five runs combined in their last two games. They limited the scoring of their opponent and only committed one error on the day. The Pioneers infield was able to control short hits and TWU's pitcher delivered timely strikeouts. The Pioneers defense will be crucial today against the Dustdevils.
