PIONEERS LOOK TO STAY HOT AT HOME AGAINST MSU, LCU

DENTON, Texas (March 26, 2026) - Texas Woman's softball (20-14, 14-6) will continue their homestand at Dianne Baker Field this weekend as they are set to face Midwestern State (4-26, 2-18) on Friday at 4 and 6 p.m., and then Lubbock Christian (16-14, 12-8) on Sunday beginning at noon.

The Pioneers are coming off a 2-0 sweep against Henderson State yesterday with 5-3 and 11-1 victories to extend their winning streak to seven games.

Tomorrow marks the 67th and 68th all-time meetings between TWU and MSU. The two teams have split their last four matchups, with the Mustangs taking two in Wichita Falls last season. On the other hand, the Pioneers and the Lady Chaps have met 16 times all-time, with LCU leading the series. Despite trailing 5-11 in the all-time series, TWU has won three of the last five meetings against LCU, including a 1-1 series split at home last season when the Lady Chaps were ranked No. 23.

CONTINUE HOME DOMINANCE 

  • A LOOK AT THE MUSTANGS: MSU sits 16th in the LSC standings and enters the weekend on a nine-game losing streak. The Mustangs are 2-18 in conference play, with recent losses to No. 8 Southern Arkansas and No. 1 West Texas A&M. Chipper Mayorga ranks in the top 15 in the conference in hits with 38 on the season and is 23rd in batting average (.380). Erikha Ibarra-Subia is another key offensive threat for MSU, ranking seventh in stolen bases with 12. Mayorga and Ibarra-Subia will look to help guide the Mustangs back on track against the Pioneers on Friday.

  • A LOOK AT THE LADY CHAPS: LCU is seventh in the LSC standings and enters the weekend on a two-game winning streak. The Lady Chaps are 12-8 in conference play after splitting their last two matchups with WT and ENMU at home. LCU will rely on its deep pitching staff of Ashlinn Hamilton, Lexi Clark, Kendall Ward and Natalee Gray. This pitching staff ranks in the top 10 in multiple categories and holds spots in the top 15 in ERA and opponent batting average. Offensively, Kadin Vire leads the Lady Chaps with a .421 batting average and 40 hits, with two teammates following at .359 and .300, respectively. Maintaining balance on both sides will play an important role in LCU's success against TWU on the road Sunday.

  • A LOOK AT THE PIONEERS: TWU is fifth in the LSC standings with a 14-6 conference record. The Pioneers are on a seven-game winning streak and coming off a 2-0 series sweep of HSU on Wednesday. The offense is producing for TWU, with seven players recording 20 or more hits, led by Marissa Espinoza with a .405 batting average and 47 hits. The junior from Keller has been strong at the plate this season, ranking in the top 20 in batting average, seventh in hits and third in stolen bases with 18. In the circle for the Pioneers, Randi Crawford has emerged as a reliable ace for coach Mike McNutt and the TWU defense. Crawford leads the LSC in opponent batting average (.201) and ranks in the top five in ERA (2.21) and strikeouts (91).  

The Pioneers will take on Midwestern State on Friday starting at 4 p.m. in Denton, Texas and will face Lubbock Christian on Sunday at noon.
