DENTON, Texas (May 11, 2022) – In their first season of competition, Texas Woman's University STUNT received many honors, among them an All-American Honorable Mention.
Announced on Wednesday, May 11 by the College STUNT Coaches Association,
Lauren Murphy became the first TWU STUNT athlete to be named on the All-American list.
Murphy, from The Colony, Texas, joined TWU STUNT for their inaugural season after cheering for four years in high school and running track for one year. In high school, Murphy was named a three-time All-American in cheerleading.
According the
College STUNT Coaches Association, All-Americans had to meet the qualifying criteria: participate in all four quarters, participate in at least 50% of games played and "be a vital component to the team's success; power ranking."
"I'm extremely proud Lauren got the honorable mention for All-American," TWU head coach
Jasmine Owens said. "She was constantly pushing herself in all areas to improve her performance this year and was an invaluable part of our inaugural team. Her beautiful tumbling, technical back spotting and strong leadership skills helped our entire team through season one and will continue to help us get stronger in season two."
