DENTON, Texas (May 2, 2022) – Following their first season of competition, the Texas Woman's University STUNT team finished the season ranked 10th overall.

College Stunt provided their final seeding for Division I and Division II STUNT programs on April 18 and the Pioneers were ranked 10th.

"It feels amazing to see the team's hard work be recognized by this top ten placement for our inaugural year," TWU head coach Jasmine Owens said. "This placement is a testament to the dedication each of our athletes had this year. They worked so hard to continue improving all season."

The top seven programs advanced to the national tournament, which took place on April 22-24.

At the National Championships, hosted by St. Mary's University, California Baptist University won the title in Division I/Division II and Oklahoma State University won the club championship.

In their first season of competition, TWU played 14 games. They faced four DI/DII ranked opponents throughout the season: No. 2 Oklahoma Baptist University, No. 5 Maryville University, No. 7 Dallas Baptist University and No. 8 University of Texas at Tyler. They also faced ranked NAIA programs and club programs.

The Pioneers recorded their first win in program history, 15-1, on Feb. 26 against Connors State College, a club program.

"This season was more rewarding than I ever could have imagined," Owens said. "Having our small, but mighty, 14-athlete team overcome the learning curve of STUNT and the challenges faced by a first-year team makes me so proud of them. We went on the mat and got people talking about Texas Woman's University and really put on a show every time we competed."
TWU has continued to build its year two team and prepare for competition in spring 2023.

"I am most looking forward to seeing my current athletes step into a leadership role to help guide our incoming freshman next season," Owens said. "They have continued to work hard to gain new skills after the season ended, and I know their passion will inspire our second team."
