DENTON, Texas (Sept.23, 2022) – For the first time in four years, Texas Woman's (10-5,1-2) volleyball will be headed to Odessa, Texas for a Lone Star Conference match-up against UT Permian Basin (5-7, 0-1).

This is the first LSC away game for the Pioneers and their first meeting in Odessa, Texas since 2018. First serve is slated for 2 p.m. in the Falcon Dome.

UT Permian Basin is currently 0-1 in conference play, but this will be no easy quest. In their last matchup on Nov. 5, 2021, the Pioneers dropped set one to the Falcons but rebounded in sets two and three. By set five, the game was split and both teams battled until the Pioneers rose victorious, winning the fifth set 15-13.

The Pioneers have faced tough LSC play thus far, dropping their last home match to Angelo State (7-8,3-0) in four sets. Looking to minimize unforced errors and capitalize on out-of-system plays, the Pioneers are committed to learning on and off the court.

Both Tori Woods and Kaia Saylor lead the Pioneers in 152 kills this season, followed by Sarah Lindley with 117 kills.

Lizzy Reed remains an influential piece to the Pioneer offense with 385 assists this season and ranked seven in the LSC standings.

Trixie Oche continues to be a player to watch at the net, clocking in a season high of ten blocks against St. Mary's (5-8,1-1). Oche ranks third in LSC hitting percentage at .329. Kiya Yeoman tops the Pioneers leaderboard in blocks and is ranked sixth in the LSC for blocks, with a total of 46 this season.

The Pioneer defense would not be complete without Yanely Pabon. Pabon is ranked third in the LSC, averaging 4.94 digs per set.
