TWU HOSTS PACK THE HOUSE FOR WEDNESDAY MATCH AGAINST ENMU

DENTON, Texas (Oct. 3, 2023) – The Texas Woman's volleyball team is back in action in Kitty Magee Arena on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. against Eastern New Mexico.

TWU (11-4, 3-1) has started the season 3-1 – their best start to Lone Star Conference play since 2015. On Wednesday, they look to record their fourth win in LSC play against ENMU (8-9, 0-4).

While the Pioneers enter the match coming off a sweep against UT Permian Basin, the Greyhounds have started their LSC slate 0-4, most recently falling to Dallas Baptist in three sets.

TWU has not played ENMU in Denton, Texas since 2018. In that meeting on Oct. 5, 2018, the Pioneers defeated the Greyhounds in three straight sets.

BRING THE HYPE
  • LSC STATS: ENMU currently ranks fourth in the LSC in blocks, averaging 2.25 per set. Additionally, they also rank fourth in digs with an average of 17.66 per set. Lastly, on average, the Greyhounds hold their opponents to the lowest hitting percentage in the LSC at .129 per match. The Pioneers currently rank in the top five in five LSC categories. TWU ranks fourth in points (17.11 per set), third in hitting percentage (.243), fourth in assists (12.63 per set), third in kills (13.55 per set) and fourth in service aces (1.75 per set). On the opponent side, TWU ranks fourth in opponent blocks, holding their opponents to 1.51 blocks per set. The Pioneers also rank fifth in opponent aces, only allowing their opponents to average 1.25 aces per set.
  • FAMILIAR FOE: ENMU and TWU have met 46 times, dating back to 1989. The Pioneers are 4-1 against the Greyhounds in the last five meetings. In KMA, TWU owns the record advantage, 13-9, and in LSC matches, the Pioneers are 23-11.
  • LAST MATCH LOOK: In their last match against DBU, ENMU recorded 28 kills and hit -.019. They finished with 37 points, two aces, seven kills, 27 assists and 50 digs. They were led by Gracelyn Stubbs and Rylee Mapes who had six kills each. Deziree Flowers led with four blocks, and Getsemani Carrasco topped the Greyhounds leader board with 19 digs. In TWU's sweep over UTPB, the Pioneers hit .278 with 61 points and 46 kills. TWU recorded a season high 11 aces. They also added 44 assists and 61 digs. Tori Woods led the Pioneers with 10 blocks and four aces. Grace Reynolds topped the Pioneers leader board with 21 assists, and Luna França led with 21 digs.
