DENTON, Texas (Feb. 16, 2023) – In arguably the toughest softball conference in the state of Texas, Texas Woman's Softball is headed to Austin, Texas in their first Lone Star Conference game this season.
The series begins Friday, Feb. 17 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at Diane Daniels Field. Followed by game three on Saturday, Feb. 18, with first pitch going off at noon.
The Pioneers are coming off a sweep over Western Oregon on Feb. 10 at Dianne Baker Field. After handing the Wolves pitcher her first loss of the season, the Pioneers celebrated their wins with LSC Hall of Honor Inductee Bailey Vrazel Hammock.
That night the Pioneers finished game one 3-1, recording their first run in the third inning and the last two runs during the fourth inning. In game two, the Pioneers held the Wolves 1-0, with the Wolves registering four hits.
In the preseason poll the Hilltoppers were chosen just above the Pioneers as No. 9 with 240 votes. Megan Morris, the Hilltoppers infielder was pegged as a player to watch this season.

- In their last meeting on March 12, 2022 the Pioneers split the double header series at home; winning game one 3-2 and recording a loss in game two 1-2.
- Head Coach Gay McNutt is a firm believer that defense wins championships. The Pioneers have made it their priority to win defensively and stop their opponents from scoring.
- From the circle the Pioneers have recorded 59 strikeouts over their opponents so far this season.
