TWU SOFTBALL SETS THE STAGE AT HOME IN NON-CONFERENCE GAME AGAINST HENDERSON STATE

DENTON, Texas (Feb. 27,2023) – After hitting a small road bump against Lubbock Christian over the weekend, Texas Woman's (9-7, 5-4) softball is back at home in a non-conference double-header against Henderson State (8-7, 2-1) on Tuesday, Feb. 28 beginning at 4 p.m at Dianne Baker Field.
 
This past weekend the Pioneers dropped three games to the Chaps, with game three ending 4-3. The Pioneers put up a long hard fight in game one, holding the Chaps scoreless until the eighth inning, where they scored one run to close game one. Game two ended early in the fifth inning, as the Chaps scored nine runs to the Pioneers one.
 
Although the game results were not in the Pioneers favor, records were broken as Alyssa LeBlanc recorded 17 strikeouts against the Chaps in game one to break the program record for most strikeouts in a single game.
 
Within the Lone Star Conference, the Pioneers have an ERA of 2.58, sitting at No.7, led by LeBlanc who has an ERA of 2.26 and pitched in 52.2 innings.
 
In the field the Pioneers are No.6 in the LSC with 423 catches, 318 putouts, with 15 errors. The Pioneers are led by Delaney Boley with 118 catches, 97 putouts, and only one error.
 
In their last meeting against the Reddies, TWU took the Reddies to five innings to end the game 9-1 on March 6, 2012. The Pioneers lead Henderson State six wins to three losses.
 
The Reddies are coming off a 2-1 series win to Northwestern Oklahoma State University. From the circle the Reddies are fifth in the Great American Conference with an ERA of 3.06.
