PIONEER SOFTBALL SPENDS SPRING BREAK ON THE ROAD IN ODESSA, TEXAS

ODESSA, Texas (March 16, 2023) – It's spring break for Texas Woman's University but not for Pioneer Softball (13-14, 7-11) as they head to Odessa, Texas to take on UT Permian Basin (6-17, 3-12) in a double header beginning Friday, March 17 at 3 p.m.
 
On Saturday, March 18, the Pioneers will close the three-game series with first pitch beginning at 1 p.m.
 
The Pioneers are looking to turn things around after bearing two sweeps to Lone Star Conference opponents Angelo State (18-11, 10-8) and #23 West Texas A&M (21-3, 12-3).
 
Now 13-14 overall and 7-11 in the conference, the Pioneers are expecting to close the gap and end spring break on a high note before going into next week.
 
In their last meeting, the Pioneers dropped a pair road games to the Falcons on March 6, 2022. 
 
Over the weekend, the Falcons shutdown Midwestern State after winning the series 2-1. Leading the Falcons from the circle is Destini Trahan, who saw 26 batters in seven innings of work, recorded four strikeouts and gave up one walk in game three against MSU.
 
Leading the Pioneers in batting and pitching is Alyssa LeBlanc (7-6). LeBlanc was recently named the LSC Pitcher of the Week after her performance against Angelo State in game one March 7, 2023. After throwing 223 pitches on the night, LeBlanc recorded 23 strikeouts- a new LSC Record.
 
From the circle, LeBlanc manages an ERA of 1.92, has thrown for 10 complete games and registered three shutouts this season. With a batting average of .329 LeBlanc is a multifaceted player for the Pioneers.
