NATCHITOCHES, La. (Aug. 6, 2025) - Texas Woman's Head Softball Coach
Gay McNutt was announced as an inductee into the
Class of 2025 Northwestern State Hall of Fame.
McNutt, who has been with the Pioneers since June 2022, served as the Demons Head Softball Coach from 1995-2000. During her time in Natchitoches, she led NSU to its first two NCAA Tournament Appearances in program history in 1998 and 2000. Additionally, NSU celebrated a three-year run of Southland Conference titles under McNutt's leadership from 1998-2000. During those three seasons, McNutt celebrated a .671 winning percentage with 112 wins. Overall, her 161 victories rank third in program history.
During her time at NSU, she coahed two All-Region honorees, one Southland Hitter of the Year, one Southland Freshman of the Year, one Southland Pitcher of the Year, 24 All-SLC honorees and 17 SLC All-Tournament honorees.
From 1998-2000, McNutt was voted as the Southland Coach of the Year for three straight seasons. She was additionally named the LWSA Coach of the Year in 1998.
This marks McNutt's second Hall of Fame honor, as she was inducted into the Texas A&M Hall of Fame in 2011 for her historic playing career with the Aggies.
