DENTON, Texas (July 15, 2025) – Texas Woman's softball announced the addition of veteran coach Rone Robinson as assistant coach for the Pioneers ahead of the 2026 season.

"I am deeply thankful and blessed to be named assistant softball coach at Texas Woman's University," Robinson said. "I want to thank the Executive Director of Athletics, Sandee Mott, and Head Coach, Gay McNutt, for this opportunity to assist Coach McNutt in leading the TWU softball program to new heights, upholding the standard of excellence while developing confident and successful young women through softball. I am eager to become a part of the competitive environment in the TWU athletic department. It is an honor and privilege."

Robinson joins TWU with more than 17 years of experience in collegiate and elite-level travel softball, having coached at various levels of NCAA Division I and III, in private training academies, and with top-tier national organizations. He is recognized for his expertise in offensive development and leadership, along with extensive knowledge in player development, recruiting, and program operations.

"I am beyond excited to have Rone Robinson as a part of my staff," McNutt said. "Rone brings a lot of experience and will elevate our team in every aspect, but especially offensively. He's a class act and very proud that he's now a Pioneer."

Most recently, Robinson served as the regional director of operations for the Bombers Fastpitch Softball Organization from 2020 to 2023, where he led growth and recruitment efforts across North Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana, all while mentoring both coaches and student-athletes.

In addition to his work in the club circuit, Robinson founded and operates Total Effort Sports Softball & Baseball Academy in Dallas, where he has developed specialized offensive and defensive systems to train student-athletes at the highest level. He continues to host camps, clinics, and private sessions across the region.

Robinson's collegiate coaching career includes positions at several Texas institutions. He was the associate head coach at the University of North Texas from 2012 to 2014, where he served as the offensive coordinator and was responsible for recruiting, scouting, academic monitoring, and daily operations. Prior to his time at UNT, he held assistant coaching roles at UT Arlington and UT Dallas, where he also served as the head women's cross country coach.

Throughout his career, Robinson has developed dynamic offensive strategies, led program-building initiatives, directed player conditioning, and supported both academic and athletic excellence. His reputation as a builder of culture and talent has left a lasting impact on every team he has coached.

A native of Louisiana, Robinson earned his bachelor's degree in general studies from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

He joins a Pioneer program coming off a strong 2025 campaign under Coach McNutt and looks to help guide the team to further success in the Lone Star Conference and beyond.
