WICHITA FALLS, Texas (March 24, 2023) – The Pioneers won't be far from home this weekend as they take on the Midwestern State Mustangs (3-27, 2-19) March 25-26.
 
The Lone Star Conference three-game series is set to begin Saturday, March 25 at Mustangs Park. The first pitch of game one will go off at 4 p.m. Then, on Sunday, March 26, the Pioneers will cap off the series in a double header- the first game will begin at 2 p.m.
 
In their fall to No. 4 UT Tyler, the Pioneers were swept, bringing their record to 16-17 overall and 10-14 in the conference.
 
Against the Patriots, the Pioneers tallied six points throughout three games, with game three ending in six innings. TWU attempted an upset in game one, but after banging out three runs in the first inning, the Pioneers were held to a shutout, ending the game 4-3.
 
In game two, the Pioneers and Patriots were tied in the first inning, 2-2, until the Patriots ended the Pioneers' scoring early. The Patriots took game two, 11-2.
 
On Wednesday, March 22, game three was underway as both teams were tied early in the first inning, 1-1. In six innings of conference action, the Pioneers ended the final game of the series, 9-1.
 
Offensively, the Pioneers are led by Alyssa LeBlanc, the LSC Hitter of the Week. Against UT Permian Basin on March 17, 2023, in game two, LeBlanc led the Pioneers in breaking the TWU record for most home runs scored in a single game. With a batting average of .388, LeBlanc sits at No. 11 in the conference in batting. LeBlanc totals 14 home runs on the season and 33 RBIs.
 
From the circle, the Pioneers' defense has rallied behind LeBlanc. This season, LeBlanc registered her first no-hitter in game one against UT Permian Basin. In 102.2 innings, LeBlanc has an ERA of 1.70.
 
In their last meeting, the Pioneers held the Mustangs scoreless on April 30, 2022, 6-0. The Mustangs are led by pitcher Taylor McKenzie on the mound with an ERA of 6.30.
