DENTON, Texas (March 31, 2023) – It's all eyes on junior pitcher
Alyssa LeBlanc as she graces the watchlist of the 2023 Tucci and National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II Player and Pitcher of the Year.

In her first season as a Pioneer, LeBlanc was named as a top performer in the NFCA on March 14, 2023. In the same day, LeBlanc became the Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week for her stellar performance against Angelo State on March 7.

Against Angelo State, LeBlanc threw for 12.1 innings, breaking the Texas Woman's record for most innings pitched since 2009. For a total of 223 pitches and 23 strikeouts on the night, LeBlanc now holds the LSC record for most strikeouts in a single game.

LeBlanc followed up her performance from the circle and hit lights out from the plate on March 17-18 and was listed as a top performer for two consecutive weeks.

As a key player in the Pioneers offense against UT Permian Basin, LeBlanc went 10-for-13, scoring eight runs, with no strikeouts, and a single walk. In the same series, LeBlanc recorded her first no-hitter of the season and the seventh no-hitter in TWU history.

Overall, LeBlanc continues to excel. On March 29, LeBlanc broke the record for most strikeouts in a season with 197. The previous record was held by Carly Case in 2010 at 185 strikeouts. LeBlanc is now leading the LSC in strikeouts.

In the LSC, LeBlanc sits at No. 8 with an ERA of 1.78 and No. 1 for batters struck out looking. Offensively, the Pioneer averages .409 batting and is No.4 in the LSC. With an on base percentage of .514, slugging at a .936, and 16 home runs on the season, LeBlanc is No.2 in the conference in all three categories.

The 2023 Tucci/NFCA Division II Player and Pitcher of the Year watchlist is broken down into eight NCAA regions (Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast, and West). Elected members of the NFCA Division II All-American Committee votes on 15 outstanding student-athletes to represent each region.
