DENTON, Texas (April 14, 2023) – The forecast will be bright and sunny in Denton, Texas as Texas Woman's (21-23, 13-20) softball welcomes Texas A&M – Kingsville (20-18,17-13) to Dianne Baker Field.
In a weekend showdown, the Pioneers are set to host a double header Saturday, April 15 beginning at 1 p.m. Followed by game three on Sunday, April 16 at 1 p.m. to cap off the series.
After a slow start against Eastern New Mexico earlier this week, the Pioneers finished strong and closed game three with a win. The Greyhounds took the first two games, 2-1, and 4-3, before falling to the Pioneers in game three 11-0.
The Pioneers enter the final weeks of conference action 21-23 overall and 13-20 in the Lone Star conference. In the standings for the LSC tournament, the Pioneers fell in the standings but remain tied with Texas A&M International at No. 11, while the Greyhounds took the 10
th standing.
In game three against the Greyhounds,
Alyssa LeBlanc threw her second no-hitter of the season and in a total team effort, the Pioneers left the Greyhounds scoreless. LeBlanc carries an ERA of 1.66, the eighth best ERA in the conference. With 236 strikeouts LeBlanc remains the No.1 pitcher for most batters struck out and struck out looking.
As a team the Pioneer topped their season-high of four doubles against the Greyhounds to five doubles. Leading the charge from the plate is LeBlanc (.411) with the highest batting average, followed by
Kennedy Marlow (.263) and
Avery Boley (.260).
The Pioneers currently sit top 10 in all three categories with an overall batting average of .241, a combined ERA of 2.88, and a fielding percentage of .969.
In their last meeting against the Javelinas on April 23, 2022, the Pioneers fell in the double header series. With 50 wins and 36 losses, the Pioneers lead the overall series over the Javelinas.

- After their sweep of Midwestern State, the Javelinas are on a six-game winning streak and currently sit at No. 6 with their eyes fixed on the LSC tournament.
- Against the Mustangs, sophomore pitcher Carissa De Los Santos tossed a no-hitter for the first time in her career. In game three, freshman pitcher Andrea Martinez claimed her first win, leaving the Mustangs scoreless.
- The Javelinas are a strong batting (.282) and pitching (2.62) team, with small struggles in the field, the Pioneers will likely take advantage.
