Dear Basketball,
It's hard to express how much I am truly thankful for the game of basketball. You have made me the person I am today and for that I am so thankful.
Growing up I always dreamed of playing in college - being a part of something great and putting my everything into one thing - and that one thing was basketball.
You have been my whole life. Everything I learned is because of being an athlete. You taught me what it looks like to work hard and to always bring my best. You taught me what it looks like to push through pain and how to respond to adversity.
But most importantly, you taught me what it looks like to glorify God with the gifts He has given me. Trust that His will be done, and that who I am is not defined by you, but by who God says I am. I was able to find joy in you, because I knew this is where God wanted me to be.
Not only were there lessons in basketball, but memories I will cherish forever. You brought so much laughter and joy into my life, but you also brought pain and heartbreak - emotions I can only feel because of how much I truly loved you.
I gave everything I had this last season, knowing that this was my last. Now, it's time to say good bye and move forward, bringing everything that you have taught me into my next chapter.
Thank you again. Jeremiah 29:11
