PIONEERS MOVE UP TO FIFTH IN RECENT WBCA NATIONAL POLL

DENTON, Texas (Dec. 4, 2025) – Last week, the Texas Woman's basketball team defeated the No. 2-nationally ranked Pittsburg State. Following that win, the Pioneers moved up three spots to No. 5 on this week's Women's Basketball Coaches Association National Poll. 

On Tuesday, Nov. 25, the Pioneers defeated the Gorillas, 87-62, on the road. It marked the Pioneers first nationally ranked win of the season, third time scoring 80 or more points and third win of the season with a margin of 25 points or greater. 
 
The Pioneers currently rank first in the Lone Star Conference and ninth in NCAA Division II in field goal percentage, averaging 47.9% from the field. They are averaging 74.2 points per contest, which ranks third in the LSC. They also rank second in margin of victory, defeating opponents by an average of 14 points per game. 

From the LSC, Lubbock Christian (7-0) joined TWU on the rankings at No. 4, and West Texas A&M (6-1) moved one spot up to No. 12. Fellow South Central Region opponent, Colorado Mesa (8-1) moved up this week to No. 14. 

Grand Valley State (6-0) remained at No. 1. Minnesota State Mankato (7-0) moved up three spots to No. 2, and Fort Hays State (6-0) moved up one spot to No. 3. 
 
TWU will begin LSC play tonight on the road at Texas A&M-Kingsville.
