KONGENS LYNGBY, Denmark (June 20, 2023) – Recent Pioneer signee, who will join Texas Woman's basketball in Fall 2023, Caroline Glud Rasmussen was selected to represent her country of Denmark as a member of their 3x3 national basketball team.

Rasmussen, a transfer from Collin College, was selected as one of four women's basketball players from Denmark to play for her country.

"To represent one's country is an incredible honor," TWU Head Basketball Coach Beth Jillson said. "We are beyond proud of Caroline for her commitment to being the best she can be and shining at the highest level of basketball. We are looking forward to her strong impact on the defensive side of the ball and her scoring versatility on offense."

Most recently, Rasmussed played in the 2023 FIBA Europe Cup Qualifier, in which Denmark faced four teams on June 10-11 in Bratislava, Slovakia and Constanta, Romania, for a chance to qualify for the Europe Cup. Denmark played Spain, Serbia, Switzerland and Ukraine in the tournament and represented their country well.

"It is always a huge honor to be able to represent your country no matter if you win or lose," Rasmussen said. "I have been representing Denmark since I was 14 years old and playing with the national team is always a huge honor, because you are able to play against other nations, which also help you develop as a player. There was not really a tryout process. I was asked to represent the country and, of course, I said yes to the opportunity."

Although Denmark did not make it to the final round, Rasmussen said the team made strides and got better at the tournament.

"We came into the tournament as the underdogs. We played against all the top teams. Our best game in the tournament was against Serbia, where we ended up getting in overtime and losing by two. Even though we lost, it was still a huge accomplishment for us as a team to be able to play up with the best teams."

After a summer of international basketball and training, Rasmussen will look to make an immediate impact on the Pioneers' 2023-24 roster.

"The skill I'm excited to bring to TWU is definitely my defense," Rasmussen said. "I am a huge fan of defense, and I put more pride in that than my offense, because I believe offense comes with the defense. I will also be bringing a lot of strength in the offense where I am able to both play inside but also knock down the three."
