DENTON, Texas (July 13, 2023) – The Texas Woman's basketball team continues to grow their 2023-24 roster, as they look to record another historical season.
On Thursday, the Pioneers announced the signing of experienced forward Hadyn Collie.
Collie, from Wimberley, TX, brings collegiate experience to TWU, as she most recently played one season at Central Wyoming College.
After growing up in a large family of 13, Collie said the family aspect of TWU drew her to the program.
"I was looking for that family aspect for a basketball team, and I believe I am going to find that playing for Coach Jillson," Collie said.
A 6-foot force in the paint, Collie played 24 games for the Lady Rustlers. On the season, she scored 119 points and grabbed 128 rebounds. On average, she shot 38.6% from the field.
In the Lady Rustlers' final game of 2023, Collie recorded a double-double on the season, 10 points and 10 rebounds. Additionally, she scored a season-high 15 points in Central Wyoming's win over Community Christian College on Nov. 19, 2022.
Prior to attending Central Wyoming College, Collie played high school basketball for San Marcos Home School and earned All-Tournament Honors in 2021.
Outside of basketball, Collie enjoys serving her community and participating in Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).
"I've been involved with community service my whole life," Collie said. "One that I was super proud of being a part of was at my first college every week we went to a different elementary school to high-five the kids and teachers to help them finish out the week and bring encouragement to them."
Collie maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout her freshman season at Central Wyoming and plans to major in Business at TWU.
"Hadyn's strong mentality in the paint will help increase our offensive looks and threats this upcoming season," TWU Head Coach
Beth Jillson said. "Her commitment to excellence in the classroom and on the court as well as her passion for service will help lead our team to success in all areas. We are excited to welcome her to the Pioneer Family."
