RICHARDSON, Texas (July 18, 2023) – For her excellent commitment to growth and success, Kate Franz, a Texas Woman's softball student-athlete, was honored as a member of the 2023 Lone Star Conference (LSC) Athletic Performance All-Conference Team. 
 
"I am so thrilled to see Kate honored on the Athletic Performance All-Conference team," TWU Sports Performance Coach Delaney Baxendale said. "Kate has been a stand-out athlete in the weight room, showing determination, positivity and leadership at each session. She is always the first athlete in the weight room, the last to leave and consistently encourages her teammates."
 
Each year, the LSC honors an Athletic Performance All-Conference team. According to the LSC release, "the all-conference team recognizes student-athletes who excel in work ethic, dedication to process, attendance, communication, leadership and growth. The individual awards are voted upon by the league's athletic performance staff."
 
Franz, an upcoming senior for the Pioneers, recorded eight runs throughout the 2023 season and stole seven bases on the season. She plays outfield for TWU and appeared in 40 games during the 2023 season. While at TWU, Franz is majoring in Kinesiology. 
 
In 2022, Franz was recognized by previous TWU Sports Performance Coach Brett Crossland as a member of the TWU All-Sports Performance Team. 
 
"While I have only been coaching at TWU for one semester, Kate has shown me that she is a remarkable athlete and person," Baxendale said. "Underclassmen from every sport look to Kate as a role model as she is friendly and helpful to all athletes. Kate has also seen success on the softball field, consistently playing and performing well thus far. She is an absolute joy to work with, and I am excited to see her positive impact continue during her final year at TWU."
 
On the fourth annual LSC Athletic Performance All-Conference list, Franz joins 12 other athletes on the team from LSC member institutions. Weston Max from Cameron, the Male Athletic Performance Athlete of the Year, and Robyn Bales from Cameron, the Female Athletic Performance Athlete of the Year, headline the 2023 list of honorees.
