The 2023 PanAm (Pan American) Artistic Swimming Championship was held August 10-13 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and featured 12 and under, youth, junior and senior categories, as well as Athletes With Disabilities events.

Schwickert, who represented the United States, competed in the Senior Free Solo category against athletes from across the world, including Canada, Peru and Brazil. In the final, Schwickert swam fourth in the competition order.

Following an impressive swim, Schwickert scored a total routine score of 138.4021, which combined her declared technical hybrids and her artistic impression, which includes choreography and musicality.

With her score of 138.4021, Schwickert placed second in Free Solo, earning a silver medal.

"I am so proud of Maya's accomplishments this summer while representing the United States at the Pan American Championships," TWU Head Artistic Swimming Coach Barb Nesbitt Ng said. "Her silver medal in the Free Solo competition is a testimonial of both her strong technical skills and attention to detail.  I am thrilled for her to join our TWU team as a Pioneer this Fall."
