LUBBOCK, Texas (Sept. 15, 2023) – After sweeping Oklahoma Christian in the opening round of the Lone Star Conference Crossover, the Texas Woman's volleyball team returns to action Friday night to play the host, Lubbock Christian.
TWU (6-3) meets LCU (7-1) in the Rip Griffin Center on Friday night at 6 p.m. While the Pioneers started the Crossover with a win, LCU was handed their first loss of the 2023 season on Thursday night, as they lost in five sets to UT Permian Basin.
Prior to losing to UTPB, LCU won seven matches in a row. They opened the season with four wins at the Yellowjacket Volleyball Invitational hosted by Montana State Billings. Then, they returned to Lubbock, Texas to host the Chap Classic, where they won three matches.
The Pioneers are currently on a three match win streak after defeating Augustana, Arkansas Monticello and Oklahoma Christian. TWU will look to extend their win streak to four tonight against the Lady Chaps.

FUN FRIDAY
- ACE, ACE, BABY: The Pioneers dominated the serving category yesterday against Oklahoma Christian, recording 10 aces to the Eagles' three. In their match yesterday, LCU recorded seven aces. TWU was led by Grace Reynolds who had five aces on the match. Look for serving to be key in the match against the Lady Chaps today.
- DEFENSE: TWU held OC to the lowest hitting percentage of any opponent this season, as the Eagles hit just .028 over three sets. The Lady Chaps hit their lowest hitting percentage, .168, in their loss yesterday. TWU finished the match with 10 total blocks against OC and 51 digs.
- HISTORY LESSION: The all-time record between LCU and TWU is knotted at four. TWU has recently dropped the last two meetings with the Lady Chaps. Last season, the Pioneers lost to LCU in five sets in Lubbock, Texas. The Pioneers will look to take the series advantage over the Lady Chaps tonight.
