PIONEERS PREPARE FOR HOME OPENER ON SATURDAY

DENTON, Texas (Jan. 26, 2024) – The Texas Woman's gymnastics team finally returns home to Kitty Magee Arena for their 2024 home opener on Saturday night.

TWU will compete in their home opener in a dual meet against Lindenwood on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 6 p.m.

This will mark the third meet of the season for the Pioneers and the fourth meet of the season for the Lions.

MARCH IN
  • A LOOK AT THE MEETING: The Pioneers and the Lions compete in the Midwest Independent Conference. Last season, they met once in the regular season at Lindenwood on Jan. 29. The Pioneers won that meeting – 194.350 to 191.325. Then, TWU and Lindenwood faced off twice in the post season at the MIC Championships and USAG National Championships. At the 2023 USAG National Championships in Denton, Texas, Lindenwood won the National Title over the Pioneers with a 195.325. TWU placed second with a 194.900.
  • THIS SEASON: The Pioneers have been on the road for their first two meets with their highest team score coming in their season opener. Lindenwood recorded their highest score of the season last week at the Tennessee Collegiate Classic. The Lions' best event is the uneven bars. Last week, they scored a 49.200 on the uneven bars. Last week, the Pioneers' highest event was vault with a 48.752.
  • CAREER HIGHS: Last week, the Pioneers claimed all four event titles. Kaitlyn Hoiland matched her career high on vault with a 9.800. Caroline Bowns scored a career high on vault with a 9.775. Also on vault, Sophia Isbell recorded a career high of 9.725. On floor, Emily Six scored a career high (9.725), and Sofia Steffan also scored a career high (9.700). Bowns also competed for the first time on beam and scored a career high 9.650. Look for more exciting career highs this Saturday in KMA!
