DENTON, Texas (Jan. 29, 2024) - The wait is finally over for our softball fans. The 2024 softball season is quickly approaching, and the Texas Woman's softball team is all set to start their second season under the leadership of Head Coach Gay McNutt

The Pioneers will open up their season at the 2024 DII First Pitch Invitational in Conroe, Texas this weekend on Feb. 2/4. During those three days, TWU will face Colorado Mesa and Arkansas Tech on day one, Cal Poly Humboldt and Pittsburg State on day two, and will close the weekend against MSU Denver this Sunday.

TWU will continue on the road for close to two weeks and will play Henderson State on Feb. 13, Cameron on Feb 16 and 17 and Texas A&M International on Feb. 20 and 21. The series against Cameron will open up the conference play for both teams.

Lubbock Christian, tabbed to finish in the top four of the Lone Star Conference, will be the Pioneers' first opponent at home. On Feb. 24, they will host a double header against the Lady Chaps at 1 and 3 p.m. at the Dianne Baker Field. The next day game on Feb. 25 will be held at 1 p.m.

Next up for the Pioneers, who will continue at home, is Angelo State. A series of games will be held on Feb. 27 at 1 and 3 p.m. and Feb. 28 at 4 p.m.

West Texas A&M is the next rival for TWU in conference play. The series in Laredo, Texas will take place on March 2 and 3. Last year, the Pioneers won all three games of the series against the Dust Devils, and they will look to do the same this season on foreign territory.

The Pioneers will return home to take on Rogers State on March 6 at 2 and 4 p.m. for a non-conference double-header. That same week on March 8 and 9, TWU will host Texas Permian Basin (UTPB) for a double header on Friday at 3 and 5 pm, and a single game on Saturday at noon.

TWU will visit the LSC reigning champion, UT Tyler, for a series at Irwin Ballpark on March 12 and 13. The double-header of this series will take place on Wednesday, March 13 at 1 and 3 p.m.

Back at home, the Pioneers will host the next series against Midwestern State. The double-header will be played on March 16 at 2 and 4 p.m. with the single game on Sunday, March 17 at 1 p.m.

The Pioneers will have a long stay in Oklahoma as they will play a non-conference double-header against Southeastern Oklahoma on March 20 and Oklahoma Christian for conference play on March 28 and 29.

TWU will host the next two conference series against St. Mary's on April 5 and 6 and Eastern New Mexico on April 9 and 10. ENMU is tabbed to finish 11th in the LSC, right behind the Pioneers, so those are be games that you will not want to miss.

The Pioneers will be back on the road for ten days and will visit Texas A&M - Kingsville on April and April 14. After that, they will continue their road trip to Silver City, New Mexico to visit Western New Mexico on April 18 and April 20. The double header will take place on Friday and the single game on Saturday.

To close off the regular season, The Pioneers will host St. Edwards on April 26 at 6 p.m. and April 27 for a double-header that will begin at 1 p.m.

The Pioneers are excited and ready to show off their off-season hard work and start their 2024 season.
