ALPINE, Texas (Oct. 29, 2024) - The Texas Woman's soccer team improved their away record on Tuesday after a 1-0 victory over Sul Ross State after a quick turnaround from Saturday's matchup against Texas Permian Basin. A late second half goal by sophomore forward Giselle Gutierrez earned her fifth goal this season.
TWU (9-3-3, 5-2-3) were the aggressor all game long and finally found the back of the net late against SRSU (2-12-0, 0-10-0) to secure the 1-0 win. Nineteen shots and 10 shots on goal later, Arianna Arboleda was able to sneak the ball into Gutierrez, who got past the goalkeeper for the score in the 88th minute. Amanda Farris faced nine shots on the other end and kept five on target out of the net to get her 10th shutout on the season, one shy from her all-time shutout record of 11, which was set last season.

FROM ASSISTANT COACH JAZMINE NAVARRO
"I am very happy to get the three points on the road," Assistant Coach Jazmine Navarro said. "Our team did not play their best soccer today, but I can applaud their resiliency in finding a way to get the job done. Ari did a great job creating the goal scoring opportunity and Giselle did what she does best, which is put the ball in the back of the net."
