PIONEERS SLATED FOR TWO MATCH HOME STAND

DENTON, Texas (Oct. 31, 2024) - The Texas Woman's volleyball team faces off against two Lone Star Conference opponents this week. 

TWU (15-5, 8-2) is still on a winning streak following their last two matches. The Pioneers are now on their eighth consecutive win. 

This week, TWU hopes to keep up this momentum as they face Texas A&M - Kingsville (11-10, 3-7) on Friday, Nov. 1 at 6 p.m. and Texas A&M International (7-12, 4-6) on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. 

Just last week, TAMUK met UT Tyler on Oct. 25 and Dallas Baptist on Oct. 26; similarly, TAMIU faced DBU on Oct. 25 and UTT on Oct. 26. However, both teams were defeated by DBU and UTT in three sets. 

HOME SWEET HOME
  • On Saturday, TWU will be hosting a Free Post-Match Youth Clinic.Youth five-years-old to eighth grade are welcome to participate and must sign up at the match. All clinic participants receive free entry into the match.

A WORTHWHILE WEEKEND 
  • A LOOK AT THE JAVELINAS: TAMUK currently averages 12.7 kills per set alongside 14.2 digs. They also are ranked seventh overall in the 2024 LSC standings. Their .212 hitting percentage has earned them the tenth rank in the LSC, while their 2.22 average in blocks has the team ranked third.The Pioneers and the Javelinas have an extensive history as the two teams have played a total of 53 matches together— with TWU winning 39 of the 53. 
  • A LOOK AT THE DUSTDEVILS: The Dustdevils presently have a 12.3 kills per set average while their average for digs is 14.2. TAMIU holds the sixth ranking overall in the LSC. Their .184 hitting percentage has given them their 13th ranking, while their 1.90 blocking average has them in seventh place. The history between the Dustdevils and the Pioneers is relatively new as they have only played 10 matches together, however, TWU has won eight of the 10. 
  • PASSIONATE PIONEERS: TWU currently stands fourth in the LSC rankings as the Pioneers are 8-2. Their .238 hitting percentage has earned them the fourth ranking in that category while they are ranked second in kills as they average 13.83. On the LSC leader board, Kady Hansen ranks fourth in hitting percentage and Cara Pool ranks ninth in blocks. Recently, Pool was named the LSC Offensive Player of the Week. She will be key for the team in these upcoming matches.
