DENTON, Texas (Oct. 7, 2024) – The Texas Woman's volleyball team will play their final nonconference match of the 2024 regular season tomorrow night against East Central.
TWU (8-5, 2-2) will meet ECU (10-6, 4-1) on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. in Kitty Magee Arena.
Most recently, the Pioneers defeated Sul Ross State at home in three straight sets. The Tigers, who play in the Great American Conference, played on Thursday, Oct. 3 and defeated Southern Nazarene in four sets on the road.
This season, the Tigers did play two Lone Star Conference opponents to open the season. ECU defeated UT Tyler in three sets and Dallas Baptist in four sets on opening weekend.

PIONEER POWER
- HISTORY: The Pioneers are 6-2 all-time against the Tigers. TWU last met ECU in 2021. In two meetings during the 2021 season, the Pioneers were swept in both meetings. TWU last defeated the Tigers in 2018 in four sets at a neutral site. The Pioneers are 3-1 against the Tigers in Kitty Magee Arena.
- A LOOK AT ECU: The Tigers are currently hitting .180 on the season and averaging 12.2 kills per match. On average, they allow their opponents to hit .187 on the season. They also average 11.4 assists per set. From the service line, they hit 1.4 aces per set. Additionally, they average 1.4 reception errors per set. On defense, they record 16.5 digs per set and 1.8 blocks per set. In their last match against SNU, the Tigers hit .234 and held SNU to hitting just .098. They also finished the match with seven aces and 10 blocks.
- KEYS TO THE MATCH: ECU is currently on a five-match win streak. Their last loss came to the University of Central Oklahoma on Sept. 20, when the Tigers were swept by UCO. In the match, the Tigers were held to hitting .000. The Bronchos limited the Tigers' aces to just two on the game, which was key to the win. Additionally, they also limited ECU's attack opportunities. Blocking will also be key in the match to limit the scoring of the Tigers.
