PIONEERS GO ON THE ROAD FOR FINAL TWO REGULAR SEASON MATCHES

PORTALES, N.M. and CANYON, TX (Nov. 14, 2024) - The Texas Woman's volleyball team goes on the road to close out their regular season in two Lone Star Conference matches. 

Following last weekend, TWU (18-7, 11-3) fell to UT Dallas and Midwestern State on Nov. 8 and 9 after four sets. 

On Friday Nov 15, TWU will take on Eastern New Mexico (5-20, 2-12) and on Saturday, Nov 16, the Pioneers will face No. 6 West Texas A&M (21-3, 14-0). 

Recently, ENMU fell to Texas A&M - Kingsville and Texas A&M International last weekend following three sets. Contrarily, WT defeated TAMUK and TAMIU after three sets solidifying their 15-match win streak. 

PIONEERS ON THE ROAD  A WINNING WEEKEND
  • A LOOK AT THE GREYHOUNDS: ENMU currently ranks 12th overall in the LSC. The Greyhounds have a hitting percentage of .136 and average 1.51 blocks per game. They average 12.99 points per game and allow their opponents a hitting percentage of .240. In their last match-up against TAMIU, ENMU had a team high with two service aces. The Pioneers and the Greyhounds have an extensive history as they have played 47 matches together. Out of the 47, the Pioneers have won 27 of the matches.
  • A LOOK AT THE LADY BUFFS: WT currently ranks first overall in the LSC and has a hitting percentage of .277. Combined with their average pf 2.28 blocks per game, the Lady Buffs have been the team to beat this season. The Lady Buffs remain undefeated and took their 15th straight win last Saturday against TAMUK. They are currently ranked No. 1 in the NCAA South Central Regional Rankings and No. 6 in the AVCA National Poll.
  • THE PIONEERS IN THE RANKINGS: TWU currently ranks third overall in the LSC. The Pioneers average 13.92 kills per game, earning them the second spot in kills. They also rank first in digs with their average being 17.80. On Saturday, Marina Obradovic and Lizzy Reed closed out the match with career and season highs as Obradovic had 21 digs and Reed had nine digs and four assists. The Pioneer hope to use their defensive strategies in their next match-ups to be successful.
