DENTON, Texas (Nov. 2, 2024) – The Texas Woman's volleyball team continued their winning streak at home this afternoon.
TWU (17-5, 10-2) recorded their 10th Lone Star Conference win and 10th straight win on Saturday, defeating Texas A&M International (7-14, 4-8) in three sets.
The 10 wins in a row matches the Pioneers' longest win streak since 2006.
With their 10-2 record, TWU is currently tied with Dallas Baptist for third place in the LSC.
The sweep in KMA marked the Pioneers' fifth sweep of the season.
IMPACT PLAYERS
- Kiana Reed recorded the lone double-double of the match for TWU. She finished the day with 21 assists and 11 digs.
- Tori Woods led the offensive attack for the Pioneers. She closed the match with 16 kills and hit .333 on the day. She also added nine digs and one block assist in the sweep.
- Myracle Stockman also finished with double-digit kills, finishing the afternoon with 12 kills, hitting .500 on the match. She added six digs and two block assists.
- Erin Jones recorded nine kills, two block assists and two digs in the sweep.
- Grace Reynolds dished out the most assists for TWU in the match with 25. She also recorded nine digs.
PIONEER POWER MOMENTS
- TWU hit .311 in the win with 56 kills and 52 assists.
- Woods opened the scoring for the Pioneers in the first set, igniting a 4-0 run to start the first set.
- Another 4-0 run, in which Woods had three of the four kills, gave the Pioneers the five-point advantage, 17-12.
- A kill by Hansen set up set point for TWU, 24-16. Then, Stockman hit the exclamation point kill to win set one for TWU, 25-17.
- In set two, the Pioneers distanced themselves with a five-point lead. A late run by the Dustdevils brought them within two points, 16-14; nevertheless, a kill by Jones put TWU back ahead by three points, 17-14.
- An attack error gave TWU set point. TAMIU would score three straight to come within two, 24-22. The Pioneers reestablished momentum and once again, Stockman ended the set for TWU, 25-22.
- Set three started off with back-and-forth scoring. The set saw 14 ties. After the Dustdevils led 16-15, the Pioneers responded by scoring three straight to take a two-point lead, 18-16.
- Kills by Pool and Stockman brought up match point for TWU. TAMIU would score three unanswered points to come within one 24-24. Nevertheless, TWU righted the ship and took care of business. Kady Hansen finished the match with a kill 25-23.
