TWU SOCCER CONCLUDES THE REGULAR SEASON WITH A 3-0 VICTORY IN LUBBOCK; FARRIS SECURES HER 11TH SHUTOUT OF THE YEAR

LUBBOCK, Texas (Nov. 7, 2024) – The Texas Woman's soccer team secures their 11th win of the season and concludes the regular season on a four game winning streak after a 3-0 shutout win over Lubbock Christian on Thursday. Two-time Lone Star Conference Player of the Week Amanda Farris tied her career high in shutouts in the season with her 11th on the year, which is the current program record set by Farris last season. The Pioneers scored three goals for the second time this year in back-to-back matches out on the field and have settled into a great spot in the standings heading into conference play.

Despite the slow start by TWU (11-3-3, 7-2-3), it did not come back to haunt them against LCU (8-7-3, 6-5-2) after three first half saves from Farris that helped keep the Lady Chaps off the board. An ensuing goal by Alyssa Valdez for her first one of the year led to two second half strikes from Bailee Radney and Rylee Avery that sealed the deal for TWU. The Lady Chaps could not capitalize on their aggressive start as Farris held them under wraps until the Pioneers attacking front settled in and scored three unanswered goals to finish the match.

FROM HEAD COACH BABAK ABOUZAR

"This was a big conference road win today to close out the regular season," Head Coach Babak Abouzar said. "The first few minutes of the game were shaky but our team settled down and scored a great goal in the first half. LCU came out ready to play in the second half and Amanda made a great save to preserve the 1-0 lead. Not too long after that, we were able to get our second and third goals to seal the game. We're in a good spot heading into conference tournament play. We get to host and our team has a lot of confidence and is healthy which is very important this late in the season."
