DENTON, Texas (Dec. 31, 2024) – The Texas Woman's basketball team closes 2024 ranked No. 2 on the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Poll this week.

TWU (11-1, 4-1) held steady this week after picking up two Lone Star Conference wins before Christmas, defeating Western New Mexico, 71-48, and Sul Ross State, 89-54.

Grand Valley State (12-1) remained at No. 1. Fort Hays State (11-0), previously tied for fifth, moved up to No. 3. Bentley (11-1) also climbed up to No. 4, after being tied with Fort Hays State for fifth last ranking. In fifth, Cal State Dominguez Hills (12-0) moved up from ninth.

On the Top 25, just three teams remain unbeaten – Fort Hays State, Cal State Dominguez Hills and No. 7 North Georgia (10-0).
 
The Pioneers currently average 67.8 points per game with an average scoring margin of 15 over their opponents. On average, the Pioneers are holding their opponents to 52.8 points per game, which ranks second in the LSC.

TWU will go on the road for LSC action this week to open 2025. They will meet Cameron on Jan. 3 and Oklahoma Christian on Jan. 5.
