DENTON, Texas (Feb. 19, 2024) - Texas A&M International is the next opponent for the Texas Woman's softball team for the second Lone Star Conference series for the Pioneers.
TWU (4-6, 2-1) will travel to Laredo, TX to face TAMI (5-8, 2-1) for a double-header on Tuesday, Feb. 20 and a single game on Wednesday, Feb 21. The double-header is set to be played at 12 and 2 p.m. while the game on Wednesday will be at noon.
PIONEERS IN LAREDO
A LOOK AT THE DUSTDEVILS
TAMI, currently ranked sixth in the LSC standing, started their conference play with two wins and a loss against Eastern New Mexico this past weekend. The Dustdevils won 5-3 and 3-2 but fell 12-3 in the fifth inning against the Greyhounds.
A LOOK AT THE PIONEERS
The Pioneers are also coming from two wins and one loss in conference play against Cameron. TWU defeated CU 5-0 and 3-1 and fell 10-0 to the Aggies.
Allison Gonzalez leads the Pioneers in Earned Run Average (1.69) and Opposing Batting Average (.190) and stands fourth and fifth in the LSC standings in those categories respectively.
Alyssa LeBlanc is seventh in the LSC's Batters Struck Out with 26 and eighth in Batters SO Looking with 8.
TWU owns the overall record between these two teams. They have faced each other 29 times and the Pioneers took the positive result 23 of those. The last four games have been straight victories for TWU.
