FOCUSED
- THIRD MEETING: The Pioneers and the Lions are both in the East Division and have already played two times this season. TWU come out on top in both of those meetings, defeating UAFS 77-59 at home and 80-58 on the road. In the 80-58 win, which was most recently on Feb. 3, 2024, Leila Patel scored 25 points to lead the Pioneers, as they shot 48.3% from the field and 42.9% from beyond the arc as a team. Two more Pioneers joined Patel in double figures: Huffman (19) and Ashley Ingram (12). TWU held the Lions to just nine points in the third quarter.
- PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Last night at the LSC Banquet, Ashley Ingram was honored as the 2024 LSC Player of the Year. During her junior season, Ingram dominated on both the offensive and defensive ends of the court. She closed the regular season ranked second in points in the LSC, averaging 18.3 points per game and second in field goal percentage, averaging 60.9% from the field per game. She also currently ranks third in free throw percentage (81.8) and sixth in assists (3.6 per game). Ingram also ranks ninth in NCAA Division II in double doubles this season with 15. Through the entire regular season, Ingram ranked in the top three in NCAA Division II in field goal percentage, at times even ranking No. 1 overall. She currently ranks third. She had 12 games with 20 or more points, including scoring a career high 32 points this season. She also dished out a career high eight assists this season and grabbed a career high six steals. Ingram has attempted the third most free throws in Division II and averages 81.8% from the charity stripe, which ranks third in the LSC.
- THREE POINT SHOOTING: The difference in the wide, explosive margin of shooting in the two meetings between UAFS and TWU was the Pioneers' efficiency from downtown. In the first meeting, the Pioneers shot 25% from beyond the arc. In the second meeting, they shot 42.9% from the three point line. While the Pioneers do not rely on the three to have success, shooting at a high rate will assist them in being successful against the Lions.
