TWU VOLLEYBALL ANNOUNCES 2024 SCHEDULE

DENTON, Texas (July 18, 2024) – After setting the tone of a historical season in 2023, the Texas Woman's volleyball team looks to bring the exciting momentum into the 2024 season.

On Thursday, the Pioneers announced their 2024 schedule.

Under the new direction of Head Coach Jessica Ransom, TWU aims to showcase excitement and a high level of competition at each match.

"We are extremely excited for the upcoming season," Ransom said. "We have quality competition scheduled for preseason that will help prepare us for conference play.  Our team has a great mix of returning, experienced players along with some very talented incoming players.  I am excited to get in the gym and start building."

The Pioneers begin their season on the road at the University of Tampa, as TWU will play three matches in the 2024 Courtyard by Marriott Tampa Volleyball Classic. TWU will meet the host, Tampa, in their 2024 season opener on Friday, Sept. 6. Then, the Pioneers will close the Tampa Volleyball Classic with two games on Saturday, Sept. 7 against Hillsdale and New Haven.

Following their stint in Florida, the Pioneers return home to Kitty Magee Arena (KMA) to play their home opening tournament of the season – Denton Volleyfest. TWU will play their home opener on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 5 p.m. against Colorado Christian. On Friday, Sept. 13, TWU will meet a former Lone Star Conference (LSC) foe – University of Arkansas Fort Smith at 4:30 p.m. Then, they will close the Denton Volleyfest with two matches on Saturday, Sept. 14 against Henderson State and Pittsburg State.

TWU will wrap up their preseason schedule with the Lone Star Conference Crossover hosted by Texas A&M – Kingsville on Sept. 19-20. The Pioneers will meet the host Javelinas on Thursday, and then they will play UT Tyler on Friday. Both matches will count as non-conference meetings.

The Pioneers will open LSC play at home on Friday, Sept. 27 against Lubbock Christian at 6 p.m. During the match, the Pioneers will also celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.

TWU will continue their LSC home stand on Saturday, Sept. 28 against Angelo State in KMA.

To open the month of October, the Pioneers will go on the road to play UT Tyler on Oct. 2. Then, they will return home to meet new LSC member Sul Ross State on Oct. 5. On Oct. 8, TWU will celebrate Faculty and Staff Appreciation during a non-conference match against East Central.

The Pioneers will go back on the road for LSC play on Oct. 10 and Oct 12, against UT Permian Basin and Western New Mexico, respectively. TWU has swept the Falcons in the last two meetings, and they have swept the Mustangs in the last six straight meetings.

On Friday, Oct. 18, TWU returns to KMA for their Dig Pink match against St. Mary's. They close the week at home on Saturday, Oct. 19 against St. Edward's. Last season, the Pioneers defeated St. Edward's 3-1 in Austin, Texas. 

On Oct. 25, the Pioneers will go on the road to meet Oklahoma Christian and will look continue to build on a three-match win streak over the Eagles. Then, on Oct. 26, TWU will meet Cameron on the road and look to continue to build upon their 14-match win streak against the Aggies, dating back to 2015.

TWU will start the month of November in KMA on Nov. 1 and Nov. 2, as the Pioneers meet Texas A&M – Kingsville and Texas A&M International (TAMIU) for LSC play. Following the match against TAMIU on Saturday, Nov. 2, TWU will host a free post-match youth clinic.

The Pioneers will go on the road on Nov. 6 to meet LSC opponent Dallas Baptist. Then, on Nov. 8, TWU will welcome a first-time opponent UT Dallas to KMA.

On Nov. 9, TWU will close the regular season at home and celebrate Senior Day against Midwestern State. Then, the Pioneers will officially close the 2024 season on the road against Eastern New Mexico on Nov. 15 and West Texas A&M on Nov. 16.

After recording thier best start since 2015 last season, the Pioneers look to continue to maintain high momentum and start off strong in 2024.
