TAMPA, Fla. (Sept. 5, 2024) – The Texas Woman's volleyball team is back in action, as they begin their 2024 season in Tampa, Fla.
TWU starts their 2024 campaign with a three-game slate at the 2024 Courtyard by Marriott Tampa Volleyball Classic, hosted by the University of Tampa.
On Friday, Sept. 6, the Pioneers will start their season against the host Tampa Spartans at 5 p.m. CST. Then, on Saturday, Sept. 7, TWU will play two games, starting the day off against Hillsdale at 12:15 p.m. CST and then closing the Classic against New Haven at 4:15 p.m. CST.
The Pioneers are coming off a 19-9 season, where they returned to the Lone Star Conference Tournament. The Pioneers returned reigning LSC Newcomer of the Year – setter
Grace Reynolds, and All-LSC honorees:
Cara Pool,
Kady Hansen,
Luna França and
Tori Woods. TWU Head Coach Jessica Ransom, in her first season with the Pioneers, will look to start the opening weekend off with a lot of strong momentum.

IT'S GO TIME
- A LOOK AT TAMPA: The Spartans come into the 2024 season ranked No. 2 on the AVCA National Preseason Poll. Tampa closed their 2023 season in the NCAA Semifinals. This marks the fifth consecutive season the Spartans have been ranked in the Top Five in the AVCA Preseason Poll. Tampa returns 12 players, including two All-Americans. The Spartans were also tabbed to repeat as the Sunshine Conference Title Winner. Tampa is coached by Chris Catanach, who is in his 41st season with the Spartans.
- A LOOK AT HILLSDALE: The Chargers finished the 2023 season 27-7 overall. They were tabbed as the favorite to win the North Division in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. In 2023, they claimed their seventh straight G-MAC Tournament Championship, and their seventh regular season championship in eight seasons. Hillsdale did graduate the 2023 G-MAC Player of the Year and All-American libero Alli Weise. Nevertheless, they did return an All-American outside hitter, the 2023 G-MAC Tournament MVP, as well as their All-G-MAC setter.
- A LOOK AT NEW HAVEN: New Haven, also the Chargers, closed their 2023 season 23-10 and went 10-1 in conference action. They were picked to finish second in the Northeast-10 Preseason Poll. In 2023, the Chargers claimed the NE10 Conference Championship title. The Chargers returned reigning NE10 Player of the Year and D2CCA East Region Player of the Year Macy Brown.
