PIONEERS HELD TO 1-1 DRAW BY TEXAS A&M INTERNATIONAL

DENTON, Texas (Oct. 11, 2025) – Texas Woman's Soccer earned a point at home Saturday night, drawing 1-1 with Texas A&M International in a Lone Star Conference matchup at Pioneer Soccer Park.

The Pioneers (9-1-2, 5-1-2) struck first in the second half and controlled much of the play, but a late goal by the Dustdevils (1-5-3, 1-4-2) brought the match to a tie. TWU remains in third place in the conference standings with six matches remaining in the regular season.

TWU out shot TAMIU 19-6 overall and held an 8-3 edge in shots on goal. Despite several strong looks in the closing minutes, the Pioneers were unable to find the back of the net, settling for their second draw of the year.

IMPACT PLAYERS

KEY MOMENTS

  • 72': Alfaro broke the scoreless deadlock with a well-placed free kick off the bottom corner into the net, scoring her third goal of the season to give TWU a 1-0 lead.

  • 88': TAMIU found the equalizer through Camila Razcon, who slotted home a pass from Fredes Manrique Sanchez to level the score at 1-1 with just minutes remaining.

  • TWU pushed for a game-winner in the closing moments, but shots from Gutierrez, Halee Avery, and Luna were turned away for the 1-1 result.

FROM HEAD COACH BABAK ABOUZAR

"I'm disappointed with the result tonight," Abouzar said. "I felt we did enough to get the three points. We created some really good opportunities, we just have to do a better job of finishing them and turning them into goals. With that being said, Bella had a beautiful goal off a free kick. We have a resilient team. We will bounce back."

NEXT UP

TWU returns home on Wednesday, Oct. 15 for a LSC matchup against No. 3 Dallas Baptist. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Pioneer Soccer Park.
