ARTHUR GARZA NAMED TWU HEAD SPORTS PERFORMANCE COACH AT TWU

DENTON, Texas (Oct. 7, 2025) – On Tuesday, the Texas Woman's Athletic Department announced the hiring of Arthur Garza as the Head Sports Performance Coach.

"I am excited to welcome Arthur Garza, our new Head Sports Performance Coach, to the Pioneers," said Executive Director of Athletics Sandee Mott. "His expertise and enthusiasm for developing student-athletes will further enhance our training environment and support our teams in reaching high levels of success. I look forward to the positive impact he will have on both our programs and our student-athletes' overall performance and well-being."

Most recently, Garza worked as the Director of Strength and Conditioning at East Central University, a Division II university in Ada, Okla. With the Tigers, Garza oversaw the strength and conditioning programming for all 13 athletic programs, including volleyball, women's soccer, football, men's and women's basketball, baseball, softball, men's and women's track and field, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's golf and cheer. To execute the programming, he led a staff of one assistant and five graduate assistants.

"I am excited to get started as the Head Sports Performance Coach at Texas Woman's," Garza said. "I am ready and prepared to make a positive impact and help continue the winning tradition here at Texas Woman's."

Prior to working at ECU for the past two years, Garza served as a Strength and Conditioning Coach at Texas Christian University during the summer of 2022. In this role, he assisted in the athletic development of the Horned Frogs Football team, who were the 2022 Fiesta Bowl Champions and followed it up with a 2023 National Championship appearance. Throughout the summer of 2022, he provided individualized instruction for each football athlete to progress them toward their team and individual goals. He provided clear and constant communication among the strength and conditioning staff to maintain successful programming. Garza worked with the athletes on pre-activation, weight-resistance training, speed training, change of direction, plyometrics and nutrition and recovery techniques.

During the summer of 2021, Garza worked as a Strength and Conditioning Coach at Southern Methodist University. He worked to collaborate on and implement a summer strength and conditioning program for the Mustangs football team. He worked to provide individualized instruction to lead athletes to their goals. Garza worked to communicate consistently with coaches and staff members to ensure growth among the team. Additionally, he worked with the athletes on pre-activation, weight-resistance training, speed training, change of direction, plyometrics and nutrition and recovery techniques.

Garza, while at TCU and SMU, was mentored by Master Strength Coach Kaz Kazadi, who currently serves as the Assistant Athletics Director for Football Human Performance at TCU.

Outside of the college atmosphere, Garza also worked as a High School Strength and Conditioning Coach and Football Offensive Line Coach at Ranchview East High School in Carrollton, Texas from 2019-21 and Plano East High School in Plano, Texas from 2017-19.

Garza holds a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from ECU, where he also played football. He is a National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. He is also certified as a USA Weightlifting Level 1 Coach.

Garza joins the Pioneers to lead the strength and conditioning program and staff for all nine programs for TWU.
