TWU MEETS TAMUK ON SATURDAY IN KMA

DENTON, Texas (Feb. 14, 2024) – The Texas Woman's basketball team continues their home stand on Saturday, Feb. 15 against Texas A&M – Kingsville.

TWU (24-1, 17-1) will meet TAMUK (15-9, 11-7) for the second time this season at 2 p.m. on Saturday in Kitty Magee Arena.

Last night, the Pioneers defeated Texas A&M International 71-46. It marked their 14th straight win at home and 18th straight win of the season. Additionally, it marked the 18th straight game TWU has held their opponent to 55 points or less.

On the other side, the Javelinas faced UT Tyler on Thursday night in Tyler, Texas and fell to the Patriots, 61-54.

HOME SWEET KMA WINNING WAYS
  • LAST MEETING: The Pioneers and the Javelinas met earlier this season on Jan. 16 in Kingsville, Texas. TWU claimed the win, 66-48. Ashley Ingram led the way with 17 points, as she broke the TWU All-Time Points record in the win. Scout Huffman joined Ingram in double-digits with 14 points. Huffman and Ariyanna Hines led the rebounding effort with seven each. Ingram dished out the most assists for TWU with five. It marked a wire-to-wire win for the Pioneers. TWU scored 38 points in the paint and shot 44.6% from the field in the win.
  • STRONG OFFENSE: The Pioneers rank first in the Lone Star Conference in field goal percentage, averaging 45% from the field. TAMUK ranks third in the LSC in field goal percentage, shooting 43.2% from the field on the season. Scout Huffman leads the LSC In field goal percentage individually, averaging 59.8%, which also ranks seventh in NCAA Division II. The Javelinas are led by Shelby Ray who shoots 48.6% on the season, which ranks seventh in the LSC.
  • START OFF WITH ENERGY: Last night, the Pioneers opened the night with 21 points in the first quarter and held TAMIU to just seven points. In their game last night, TAMUK got outscored 24-9 in the opening quarter. The first quarter of action will be key in tomorrow's game.
