AUSTIN, Texas. (March 28, 2025) - The Texas Woman's University softball team (15-15, 11-13) is headed south this weekend to take on St. Edward's (19-15, 13-11) and St. Mary's (19-16, 14-10) in a pair of Lone Star Conference doubleheaders. The Pioneers will face the Hilltoppers on Saturday, March 29, in Austin, before traveling to San Antonio to battle the Rattlers on Sunday, March 31.
TWU looks to rebound from a challenging road trip in Oklahoma, where the Pioneers went 1-3 against Oklahoma Christian and Cameron. This weekend's matchups will mark the 51st and 52nd meetings between TWU and St. Edward's, with the Pioneers holding a 30-20 all-time series lead. In their most recent series, TWU took two out of three games against the Hilltoppers. Meanwhile, the Pioneers will face a tough challenge against St. Mary's, a team that has won five of the last six meetings and leads the all-time series 37-20. TWU won the last matchup in 2024 by a score of 7-3 and aims to build on their recent victory over Cameron.

A LOOK AT THE HILLTOPPERS: St. Edward's enters the weekend ranked seventh in the LSC standings. Last weekend, the Hilltoppers split their series against Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas A&M International on the road. They will look to build on their most recent 11-4 victory over the Dustdevils and add to their home win total against TWU.

A LOOK AT THE RATTLERS: St. Mary's sits in fifth place in the LSC standings. The Rattlers also split their series against the Javelinas and Dustdevils, suffering a 9-7 defeat to Kingsville last Sunday. With conference standings on the line, they aim to bounce back at home against TWU.

A LOOK AT THE PIONEERS: The Pioneers currently rank 10th in the LSC with an 11-13 conference record. TWU went 1-3 last weekend in Oklahoma and looks to improve their road performance. Offensively, Hawwa Townsend is tied for third in the LSC in total doubles (12), while Lizzie Smith ranks ninth in on-base percentage (.505).
TWU will take on St. Edward's on Saturday at noon and 2 p.m. in Austin before facing St. Mary's on Sunday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. in San Antonio.
