LAREDO, Texas (April 15, 2025) - The Texas Woman's softball team (19-21, 15-19 LSC) is hitting the road this week, heading south to face Texas A&M International (22-25, 15-19 LSC) and Texas A&M-Kingsville (20-27, 15-21 LSC) as they begin a six game road stretch.

TWU remains in contention in the Lone Star Conference standings and is looking to string together key wins on the road this April. This weekend marks the 35th and 36th all-time meetings between the Pioneers and TAMIU, with TWU holding a 27-7 series advantage. Against the Javelinas, TWU leads the all-time series 54-40-2 and aims to continue their success against both squads.

ROAD DAWGS

THE ROAD STRETCH BEGINS

  • A LOOK AT THE DUSTDEVILS: Texas A&M International currently sits 10th in the LSC standings, just ahead of the Pioneers. The Dustdevils are looking to rebound after a tough weekend in Oklahoma, where they went 0-4 against Oklahoma Christian and Cameron. As they return home, TAMIU will look to reset and defend their turf in hopes of staying in the postseason hunt.

  • A LOOK AT THE JAVELINAS: TAMUK is positioned 12th in the LSC and has struggled in recent weeks, winning just two of their last 12 games. One of those wins came Friday, April 11, against the Aggies of Cameron. Like TWU, the Javelinas are seeking to gain momentum and secure crucial wins down the stretch to stay alive in the LSC Tournament race.

  • A LOOK AT THE PIONEERS: TWU enters the weekend ranked 11th in the conference with a 15-19 LSC record. The Pioneers are coming off a pair of home splits against St. Mary's and St. Edward's, and are now searching for consistency as they push to climb the conference ladder.

In their last meetings with TAMIU and TAMUK at Dianne Baker Field back in March, TWU split both series. Offensively, Hawwa Townsend ranks sixth in the conference with 14 doubles, while Marissa Espinoza is among the top 15 in stolen bases with 11. In the circle, Allison Gonzalez and Randi Crawford both rank in the LSC's top 15 in ERA, opponents' batting average, and strikeouts.

The Pioneers will take on the Dustdevils tomorrow, Wednesday, April 16, with games scheduled for noon and 2 p.m. in Laredo. They'll then face the Javelinas on Friday, April 18, at noon and 2 p.m. in Kingsville.
