DENTON, Texas (May 28, 2025) - To conclude the 2025 season for the Texas Woman's softball team, Marissa Espinoza and Vivica Hernandez have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team.
The CSC recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for excellence both on the field and in the classroom. The Academic All-America® program honors student-athletes across four divisions: NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III, and NAIA.
Espinoza, a sophomore from Keller, Texas, is majoring in business finance and boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA in her first year with the Pioneers. She started 46 of 48 games this season and led the team in batting average (.333), hits (50), and stolen bases (15). Espinoza also recorded her first career home run on April 4 against Cameron.
Hernandez, a senior outfielder and criminal justice major, finished her academic career with a 3.8 GPA. She started in 47 games in 2025, tallying 46 hits, 28 runs, 17 RBIs, nine doubles, and a triple. Defensively, she posted a .977 fielding percentage with 83 putouts and three assists in left field.
This marks Hernandez's second selection to the CSC Academic All-District Team, while Espinoza earns the honor for the first time.
