ATLANTA (July 22, 2025) – Champions on the court and in the classroom are core descriptors of the Texas Woman's basketball team.
Last season, the Pioneers earned their third straight Lone Star Conference Regular Season Championship and East Division Title. They followed up the regular season with their second straight LSC Tournament Championship and second straight NCAA Sweet Sixteen appearance.
While achieving high levels of success on the court, the Pioneers were also staying committed to success in their academic pursuits. During the 2024-25 season, TWU posted a 3.881 cumulative grade point average.
The
Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) yearly compiles GPA data across divisions and ranks teams according to their GPA.
With their 3.881 GPA, the Pioneers ranked third in Division II. St. Cloud State posted the highest GPA in Division II with a 3.892, and Winona State posted the second highest with a 3.887.
TWU did top the leaderboard for the highest GPA of any LSC program and South Central Regional program. Additionally, they posted the highest GPA of any NCAA Tournament qualifying team.
Representing the LSC in the Top 25 along with TWU was Lubbock Christian at No. 6.
During the 2023-24 season, the Pioneers ranked fourth overall in Division II.
"I am so proud of our team's commitment to success in the classroom," Head Coach
Beth Jillson said. "During the busiest times of the season, they remained diligent in putting their studies first, while also balancing being great basketball players. This ranking is a true testament to their hard work and the excellence they strive for in all they do."
