PIONEERS POST THIRD CONSECUTIVE 4-0 SHUTOUT WIN

DENTON, Texas (Sept. 10, 2025) – For the third straight match, the Pioneers take a 4-0 victory to extend their record to 3-0 in a well balanced game vs a physical battle against Southern Nazarene at Pioneer Soccer Park on Wednesday night.

The Pioneers (3-0) capitalized on stout defence play from all positions on the field and exploited the Crimson Storm (1-1-1) defence for a surging four goals. The shutout marks the first three shutout game span since September of last year where the Pioneers bounced back from an home opener loss and won three out of four straight without allowing a goal.

IMPACT PLAYERS

KEY MOMENTS

  • '17: After back-to-back attempts in the opening minutes, Gutierrez finished a rebounding effort into the back of the net for her third shot of the match. The goal came off a saved strike by Jaida Arizmendi, who was credited with the assist.

  • 20: Just three minutes later, Striker added to the TWU lead with a goal from a tough angle on the right side. She beat a defender to start the break and buried the chance to make it 2-0.

  • Southern Nazarene generated more pressure late in the first half, but two key saves by Farris preserved the shutout and sent the Pioneers into halftime with a 2-0 lead.

  • '51: The Pioneers resumed their offensive momentum early in the second half as senior defender Erica Brelove surged up the sideline to deliver a cross, setting up a clean header by Luna for her first goal of the season.

  • '55: Just minutes later, Oliveros closed out the scoring, taking matters into her own hands with a strike from distance that found the net and sealed the third consecutive 4-0 win.

  • Despite a late push from the Crimson Storm, goalkeepers Farris and Faith Graves combined to hold the visitors scoreless, making saves in the closing minutes.

FROM HEAD COACH BABAK ABOUZAR
"Another strong team performance," Abouzar said. "Winning is hard, and for us to do it at the level we have been is very commendable. Our team is locked in during scouting reports and sticks to the game plan. It shows their hunger and desire to get better. We'll enjoy this and recover for a tough road game Saturday."
