DENTON, Texas (Sept. 17, 2025) – For just the second time in program history, the Texas Woman's soccer team has opened a season 5-0, matching their hot start from the 2023 campaign. The Pioneers (5-0) showed grit and resilience in a physical 2-1 comeback win over West Texas A&M (3-1-1) on Wednesday night in their Lone Star Conference opener.
The visiting Lady Buffs struck first, scoring on their first of three shot attempts in the first half to hand TWU its first deficit of the season. After the break, the Pioneers flipped the momentum, shutting out WT in the second half while capitalizing on two key scoring opportunities to secure the victory. The TWU defense locked down in the final 45 minutes, holding WT without a single shot and weathering a scrappy, 23-foul battle to stay unbeaten.
