TWU HEADS SOUTH FOR TWO LSC MEETINGS

DENTON, Texas (Jan. 14, 2026) - The Texas Woman's basketball team heads on the road after two road wins for two Lone Star Conference games.

TWU (13-1, 7-0) is on the road, heading south, to face St. Mary's (9-4, 4-3) for the second time this season on Thursday, Jan. 15, at 5:30 p.m. Then, they will meet St. Edward's (9-6, 3-4) for their first meeting of the season on Saturday, Jan. 17, at 1 p.m.


TWU is currently on a 12-game win streak. The Pioneers are undefeated on the road, 7-0, and they look to keep the streak alive this week.

ROAD TRIP  TRIPLE THREAT 
  • A LOOK AT HISTORY: TWU and StMU have met 29 times; the Pioneers' streak continues with the most recent win of 59-53, making the record 17-12. Similarly, the Pioneers have defeated SEU the same number of times, with a nine-game winning streak. This makes their record 14-5. This will be the first meeting of TWU and SEU for the 2025-26 season and the second for TWU and StMU. 
  • THE LAST MEETING: TWU handed StMU their first loss of the season on December 16, on home grounds in Kitty Magee Arena. TWU opened with a 9-0 scoring run, en route to a 20-9 lead after the first period. At the half, TWU led 33-22. Averee Kleinhans led TWU in scoring with 14 points, shooting 5-of-16 from the field along with four made free throws. Kaylie Morgan tallied 12 points in the win, setting a career high.  TWU got hot at the right time, as a trey by Jada Celsur sparked a rally with three minutes remaining to keep the undefeated streak in LSC play alive. Gabby Elliott helped the Pioneers to the win at the free throw line, making 8-of-12 attempts.
  • PIONEERS IN THE LSC: TWU ranks third in scoring in the LSC, averaging 73.1 points per game. They rank second in defense, holding opponents to 55 points per game. On average, the Pioneers are defeating their opponents by 18.1 points, which ranks second in the LSC. TWU leads the LSC in team field goal percentage with a 46.5% from the field, a number which also ranks 11th in NCAA Division II. The Pioneers also sit at second on the LSC leader board in free throw percentage, shooting 74.5% from the charity stripe. Kleinhans ranks third in scoring in the LSC, averaging 17.4 points per game. Elliott ranks sixth with 15.5 points per game, and she ranks first in rebounding the LSC with 11.2 rebounds per game, which also ranks ninth in NCAA Division II. Elliott ranks fourth in the LSC in field goal percentage, averaging 51.9% from the field. Kleinhans ranks third in assists per game with 3.8 and fifth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.2). On the defensive end, Elliott ranks third in the LSC in blocks per game, averaging 2.3 per game.
