DENTON, Texas (Jan. 28, 2026) – After a strong week for the Pioneers,
Sophia Isbell was named the Midwest Independent Conference Gymnast of the Week, and she earned the Co-MIC Performance of the Week honor.
During the quad meet at Temple, Isbell competed in vault, beam and floor for the Pioneers. On vault, she claimed the event title, scoring a 9.825. It also marked her third straight 9.825 of the season on vault, as the anchor for the Pioneers. Then, on beam, she scored a 9.775 to tie for third on the event. She tied for fourth on floor and matched her career high on the event with a 9.850.
Winning the vault event title for the second time this season earned Isbell the Co-Performance of the Week honor.
"Isbell is one of the hardest working, most disciplined individuals I have ever known, so it is never a surprise to see her performing consistently at a very high level," said TWU Gymnastics Head Coach
Lisa Bowerman. "I could not be more proud of how she has started this season and can't wait to see all that is to come for her and her team."
The awards mark the first of the season for Isbell and third and fourth of the season for TWU.
The Pioneers will travel to California for two meets this weekend – a dual at UC Davis and a tri meet at San Jose State.
