DENTON, Texas (Oct. 19, 2026) - The Texas Woman's soccer team moved to No. 9 nationally in the latest NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Power Index (NPI) rankings released Monday while remaining No. 3 in the South Central Region.
The Pioneers dropped one spot nationally after recording two draws last week. TWU played to a 1-1 draw on the road against No. 1 Dallas Baptist on Wednesday before playing to a scoreless draw against UT Dallas at home Saturday.
TWU is 13-1-2 overall and ranks third in the South Central Region, behind No. 1 Dallas Baptist and No. 7 Midwestern State.
The Pioneers have excelled on both ends of the field, scoring 34 goals and allowing three through 16 matches. TWU has recorded 13 shutouts and outshot its opponents 255-70. The team averages 2.13 goals per match while allowing 0.19.
Freshman Lauren Wade leads TWU with nine goals, including five game-winning goals. Giselle Gutierrez ranks second on the team with four goals and leads the Pioneers with six assists. Bri Luna has added three goals and four assists.
The NCAA Power Index evaluates teams based on game results and opponents' strength. Although the NPI provides a national ranking, NCAA Division II teams will continue to be selected for the NCAA Championship by region.
In the South Central Region, Dallas Baptist ranks No. 1, followed by Midwestern State at No. 2 and TWU at No. 3. No. 16 Regis, UCCS, Colorado Mesa, Colorado School of Mines, Fort Lewis, Black Hills State and Oklahoma Christian round out the regional top 10. The rankings remain significant as teams from the Lone Star Conference and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference compete for postseason opportunities.
The Pioneers will look to maintain their position among the region's top teams as the regular season continues.
TWU will host Lubbock Christian at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Pioneer Soccer Park in their final home match of the season.
