TWU STUNT OPENS 2026 SEASON UNDEFEATED AT McNEESE TOURNAMENT

LAKE CHARLES, La. (Feb. 1, 2026) - The Texas Woman's STUNT team opened the 2026 campaign with an undefeated showing at the McNeese Tournament this weekend, finishing 3-0 in their first competition of the season.

The Pioneers began the weekend with a dominant 18-1 victory over conference foe Texas A&M-Kingsville, followed by an 11-0 shutout of Centenary. TWU capped off Sunday's competition with a 13-10 win over host McNeese State, securing an undefeated debut in Lake Charles.Several Pioneers delivered standout performances across the weekend, led by Tanith Chappie, who earned overall MVP honors in all three contests. Against Texas A&M-Kingsville, Chappie posted a team-best 43 power ranking, while Jasmine Monroe and Anna Cheek tied for second with 36. Chappie also tied with Julissa Cabrera for the top scores in both Jumps & Tumbling (13) and Pyramids & Tosses (16).

Chappie continued her strong weekend against Centenary, earning overall MVP honors with an 18 power ranking, followed by Cabrera in second with 16. Cabrera, Alicia Kenney, and Chappie finished in a three-way tie with scores of seven in both Jumps & Tumbling and Pyramids & Tosses. In the finale against McNeese State, Chappie claimed her third overall MVP honor with a 25 power ranking, while Kara Abram placed second with 22. Cabrera, Kenney, and Chappie once again shared the top score of seven in both Jumps & Tumbling and Pyramids & Tosses.

TWU opened the tournament against the Javelinas with back-to-back 3-0 quarters in Partner Stunts and Pyramids & Tosses, setting the tone for a commanding debut. The Pioneers added four points in the Jumps & Tumbling routines in the third quarter before outscoring TAMUK 8-1 in the team routine to close out the contest.

In game two, TWU carried their momentum into a matchup with Centenary, controlling play throughout for the 11-0 shutout.

The Pioneers concluded the weekend against Division I McNeese State, battling the Cowgirls in a tightly contested matchup. After two close quarters, TWU pulled ahead in the second half, outscoring McNeese 9-7 in the final two routines to secure the 13-10 victory and finish the tournament undefeated.

Next Up
TWU will hit the road for their second tournament of the season, traveling to Dallas, Texas, to compete at the DBU Tournament on Feb. 6-7 at the Burg Center.
