ODESSA, Texas (March 7, 2026) - Texas Woman's softball picked up two Lone Star Conference wins Friday afternoon, sweeping UT Permian Basin in a doubleheader at UTPB Softball Park. The Pioneers opened the day with a 10-2 run-rule victory in five innings before securing the series win with a 6-1 decision in game two.
Texas Woman's (8-10, 6-4) controlled both sides of the game throughout the afternoon, combining timely hitting with strong pitching performances in the circle. The Pioneers totaled 17 hits across the two contests and scored in eight different innings while the pitching staff limited the Falcons (9-10, 2-8) to just three total runs.
TWU jumped out early in game one and never relinquished momentum, using a six-run fourth inning to break the game open. The Pioneers followed with another complete effort in game two, building a multi-run lead midway through the contest before adding late insurance runs to seal the sweep.
With the two victories, Texas Woman's continued their conference road swing while securing their first run-rule win of the season in the opening game.

Hawwa Townsend put the Pioneers on the board in the top of the third inning with a two-run home run to left-center field that scored Zaryah Williams and gave TWU a 2-0 lead.

TWU broke the game open in the fourth when Marissa Espinoza delivered an RBI single to bring home the first run of the frame.

Tamia Cherry extended the inning when she was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, forcing in another run to push the Pioneer lead to 4-1.

Later in the inning, Townsend added two more RBIs with a single to left field, scoring two runners as TWU stretched the advantage to 6-1.

The Pioneers added two additional runs in the inning on a Falcon fielding error to cap the six-run frame and make the score 8-1.

Espinoza sealed the run-rule victory in the fifth inning with a two-RBI single to right field that scored Riley Todd and Williams, extending the lead to 10-2.

TWU broke the scoreless tie in the top of the third inning when Marissa Espinoza lined an RBI single to left field to score Riley Todd and give the Pioneers a 1-0 lead.

Later in the inning, a Falcon throwing error allowed Todd to score before Espinoza crossed the plate on a wild pitch to extend the Pioneer advantage to 3-0.

Elizabeth Smith added an insurance run for the Pioneers in the sixth inning with a solo home run to left field to increase the lead to 4-1.

Espinoza capped the scoring later in the inning with a two-RBI single to center field that brought home Trinity Perry and Todd, giving TWU the 6-1 final margin.
