NORMAN, Okla. (Jan. 23) – The TWU gymnastics team placed third at a tri-meet hosted by #1 Oklahoma Friday night at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, OK. The top-ranked Sooners, the defending NCAA co-national champions, finished first with a score of 197.850, while Southeast Missouri State placed second with a 192.850 and the Pioneers scored a 190.350.
Senior
Stephanie Repp was the Pioneers' leader as she competed as an all-arounder. Repp's career-high all-around score of 38.750 placed her third in the AA competition behind SEMO's Alyssa Tucker (39.125) and Chelsi Hamilton (38.875).
The Pioneers opened the meet on bars and scored a 48.050 led by senior
Courtney Cochefski with a 9.750. Sophomore
Katie Simpson scored a 9.725 while Repp posted a 9.650.
In the second rotation, the Pioneers stumbled on beam as they scored just 46.100 after counting three falls. TWU was led by Repp and freshman
Schyler Jones with a 9.675 each.
The Pioneers regrouped and scored a 47.800 on floor in the third rotation. Senior

TWU closed out the meet on vault in the fourth rotation and scored a 48.400. The Pioneers were led by senior

Mallory Moredock each scored a 9.650.
"Tonight was not the performance we were hoping for and prepared for," said TWU head coach
Lisa Bowerman. "After a strong start on beam this season it was disappointing to see tonight's beam performance end up like it did. We saw improvements in some areas and added some new difficulty to our vault line up, which was exciting."
The Pioneers will return to Denton to make their 2015 home debut this Sunday, Jan. 25, at 1:00 p.m. TWU will host North Carolina State in a dual meet in Kitty Magee Arena. The first 200 fans through the KMA doors will receive a FREE Property of TWU Gymnastics t-shirt courtesy of the Republic at Denton.
"The good news is that we get the opportunity to compete again on Sunday," Bowerman said. "I know the girls will be motivated to correct the mistakes that were made tonight and be ready to take a big step forward in front of our home crowd."
