DENTON, Texas (March 23, 2026) - For the first time since 2021, the Pioneers will have three gymnasts represent Texas Woman's at the NCAA Women's Gymnastics Regional in Tempe, Ariz., the NCAA announced Monday morning. The last Pioneer to qualify for regionals was Isabel Goyco in 2021 at the NCAA Women's Gymnastics Regional in Athens, Georgia, earning an individual berth in the floor exercise. The three Pioneers who will compete this year are junior Sophia Isbell on vault, junior Sophie Hernandez, and sophomore Kyleigh Ghanbari on floor exercise.
"We are incredibly proud to have Isbell, Hernandez, and Ghanbari representing our team at NCAA Regionals this year," said head coach Lisa Bowerman. "I have no doubt all three will perform at a very high level next week, just as they have done all season long. Not only will this be an incredible experience for them individually, but as returners on our 2027 team, they can bring this experience back to help fuel our path toward being team qualifiers next season."
The junior from Reading, Mass., Isbell competes in at least three events for the Pioneers, averaging 9.825 on vault with a National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 9.845. Her highest vault score this season is 9.85, which she has matched five times, most recently at the 2026 MIC Championships in Normal, Illinois. She has earned five MIC weekly honors, the most among all Pioneers.
Hernandez also makes her NCAA Regional debut after qualifying on floor, averaging 9.823 with an NQS of 9.870. Her highest floor score this season is 9.875, achieved five times. Her career-high on floor is 9.950, set against Missouri in 2024. Hernandez is one of three Pioneers competing in at least three events this season, including vault and beam.
Sophomore Ghanbari has also been a standout on floor this season, recording the team's highest floor score of 9.900, a mark she has achieved three times. Her career-high is 9.925, set last season against Nebraska. She averages 9.712 on floor with an NQS of 9.885. Competing in three events for the Pioneers, she has earned two MIC Performances of the Week and will look to leave her mark during her sophomore campaign at the NCAA Women's Gymnastics Regionals in Tempe.
The three Pioneer gymnasts will compete in Tempe, Ariz., next Thursday, April 2.
